We utilize them to create a seal between the gasket and mushroom grow kit chamber. This allows moisture that condensates on the sides of the container to stay within the container and not make its way between the grill and fan. In return it helps keep as much moisture away from the fan as possible and
    allows
    the fan to run unimpeded as needed. It also helps stop dust and fungal spores by trapping within the filter before getting into the system helping stop late stage contamination. This is no hepa filter but it will help.
